Snoop Dogg returns to smoking three days after ‘quitting’ publicly

Barely four days after announcing that he has “decided to give up smoke,” American hip-hop legend, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., popularly known as Snoop Dogg, has come out to clarify that the “smoking” he gave up was not weed but smoky room warmer.

Snoop Dogg revealed Monday that his announcement that he was giving up smoke — which was met with plenty of skepticism from fans — was, in fact, to tease an ad campaign for … a fire pit.

Snoop, the rapper and known weed enthusiast, said Thursday on social media that he was “giving up smoke,” prompting fans to question whether he was being serious. Monday, he confirmed that he wasn’t.

“I know what you’re thinking: Snoop! Smoke is kind of your whole thing! But I’m done with it,” he said in a video ad on X. “I’m going smokeless. Solo Stove fixed fire. They take out the smoke.”

In the ad, Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, roasts marshmallows in front of a Solo Stove brand metal fire pit.

Solo Stove released a limited-edition fire pit called “The Snoop Stove,” describing it as “hot enough to make the Doggfather go smokeless.”

Fans were leery of Snoop’s announcement last week, some of them pointing out on X that the wording “I’m giving up smoke” instead of “smoking” was suspicious.

Snoop, 52, has built smoking into his brand for most of his career, featuring marijuana leaves on his album covers and merchandise and in his music videos.

He even has a YouTube talk show called “Double G News,” on which he smokes weed with celebrities like actor Tiffany Haddish and rappers D Smoke and Moneybagg Yo.

X users questioned how much money he made from the marketing ploy. One compared the ruse to “asking the Pope to give up preaching for a brand deal.”

Another said he “had the worlds stoners questioning their life choices for this ad.”

His colleague, Meek Mill had announced to follow suit by relocating to Dubai to quit smoking, saying he was diagnosed with emphysema.
