Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday 2’ Earns Gold Certification & Breaks Spotify Record In 2 Days

Nicki Minaj‘s fifth LP Pink Friday 2 has already begun piling up the accolades and breaking streaming records just two days following its release.

The project arrived on Friday (December 6) and according to Chart Data, the sequel to Nicki’s debut is already certified gold. The 500,000 equivalent album units include sales and streams from three previously-released singles: “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” “Super Freaky Girl,” and “Last Time I Saw You.”

Minaj has also broken Spotify’s record for the biggest debut of an album by a female Hip Hop artist with a reported 41 million streams this weekend alone.

Nicki’s PF2 is slated to sell between 170,000 and 190,000 album-equivalent units, according to Hits Daily Double,

The outlet is also calling the project “the biggest female rap debut of 2023,” which would give the Queen her third No. 1 album atop the Billboard 200.

Pink Friday 2 clocks in at 22 tracks and boasts additional features from Drake, Lil Wayne, Future, Lil Uzi Vert and others.

The project serves as the sequel to her 2010 debut album Pink Friday and her first album since 2018’s Queen, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 185,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.

A tour is expected to follow the album’s release, and Minaj recently told fans to expect a completely different experience this time around and that it will be “greater than every other tour combined.”
